COINSTranslate
Throw those websites and external tools away and translate text, mtext, attributes, or multi-leaders directly inside of AutoCAD! This plug-in uses the Microsoft Translator service to translate from one language to another.
Usage
Once loaded, typing COINSTRANSLATE on the command line will start the routine. When run, the user is prompted to select any text, mtext, attributed blocks, multi-leaders, or dimensions that should be translated. A dialog is then displayed allowing the user to choose the language to translate from, and the language to translate to. When choosing the language to translate from, the "Detect Language" option can be chosen (at the top of the "From" list) which will automatically try and detect the source language.
"Translate Single and Double Quotes" controls whether quotes are sent to the translation engine. If your document uses quotes to represent feet and inches then this should be turned off, but if the quotes are used in normal language then it should be turned on to achieve the best results.
A working internet connection is needed to run this translation tool.
Installation and Uninstallation
- Download and run the "COINS Translate" executable from the Autodesk App Store.
- For integration with AutoCAD 2016, 2017, or 2018, pick "Install COINS Translate for AutoCAD 2016-2018". This only needs to be installed once for all users on the computer.
- For integration with AutoCAD 2012, 2013, 2014, or 2015, pick "Install COINS Translate for AutoCAD 2012-2015". This legacy installation needs to be installed for each user who requires the app on the computer.
To uninstall this plug-in, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
Deployments and Administrative Installations
If you wish to include the 2016/2017/2018 "all user" installation in an AutoCAD deployment then the msi file can be found in your Windows temp directory when you are running the "COINS Translate" executable front-end. The directory is usually "%TEMP%\ir_ext_temp_0\AutoPlay\Docs\COINS Translate for AutoCAD 2016-2018.msi". Note, when you close the front-end, the temporary installation will be removed, so copy it to a safe place before closing the front-end so you can get it to it when you need it.
Additional Information
Known Issues
The 2012-2015 install is a per-user installation that needs to be installed for each user on the computer. This is a legacy we are stuck with. However, it is possible to move the installed files to the all-user section after installation - please contact us for details. This is not an issue for the 2016/2018 install.
